GILA RIVER DEVELOPMENT ID

It's no surprise that the Phoenix region has seen a surge in population and overall growth over the past ten years. And with that comes the hard work and development of creating livable and sustainable communities where residents and visitors can enjoy the desert surroundings and be inspired by its rich history. The Gila River Indian Community is now working on a long-term irrigation plan to help bring the area into the 21st century and beyond. Therefore, my design inspirations came from the heritage and history of the Gila culture.

For the brand design, I was inspired by earth’s elements connected to this region—concentric circles coming together to create radiating energy. Each icon can connect to form a larger pattern reminiscent of water droplets/rippling water. I also looked at traditional textile patterns and desert flowers. I created storyboards and worked with an animator to design promotional videos.
